2019 Howl
"Aromas of plum, ripe red cherry and nutmeg. Full-bodied with fine tannins. Nice herbal character to the fruit here. Ground spice, too. Succulent and well concentrated."- James Suckling- 93 Points
"I wonder if it says more about my preferences or the art of blending, because my favorite of the wines presented by Lobo Wines was the 2019 Howl. Aged in French oak (50% new), it offers up scents of cherries, blueberries and vanilla on the nose, while being full-bodied, creamy and lush on the palate. It's an easy-drinking crowd-pleaser, with a sexy hint of licorice on the softly dusty finish." Joe Czerwinski, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate- 91 points
Macerated for a total of 21 days in stainless steel tanks where pumpovers were done and lees stirring under the cap. Cofermentation on some Cabernet with the Syrah. ML took place in barrel with 100% French Oak at about 50% new and the rest once-used.
A gorgeous range of aromas greet the nose with juicy red licorice, spiced plum compote, blackberry and humidor with hints of graphite dust and fresh ground pepper.
Voluptuous entry onto the palate with juicy plum and blackberry jam. There is a delightful suggestion of truffle savoriness along with blueberry, and a sassafrass/cola undercurrent. Hints of bright Ethiopian coffee with shaved milk chocolate add wonderful layers and it finishes juicy and long on blue and black fruits.
