2020 Howl
Aromas of baking spices greet the nose along with hints of toasted vanilla and cocao nib. Freshly crushed blackberry, plum and blueberry fruit emerges and then whiffs of fresh cracked pepper and stone provide an interesting accent to the fruit, ending on a cola note.
It has a full bodied texture on the palate with pure and ripe layers of blackberry, black plum, boysenberry and suggestions of blueberry compote. A frame of light spice envelopes the fruit with toasted cinnamon, star anise, nutmeg and allspice. The Syrah provides hints of black pepper without being overbearing and the typical "grilled" roasty note adds suggestions of roasted fare. It has nice acid balance that keeps the fruit juicy and lively throughout the mid and back palate and finishes on notes of shaved dark chocolate and grilled herbs de Provence.

93 points- James Suckling "A juicy and berry-laden blend of 71% syrah and 29% cabernet sauvignon. Dark berries, currants, herbs and some earth, too. Medium body with chalky texture. There is a fresh cherry juice character on the mid-palate bringing crunch and vitality. Peppery finish with excellent length. Drink or hold."
92 points- Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent "Deep garnet-purple in color, it comes tearing out of the glass with notes of black cherries, mulberries, and black pepper plus touches of violets, dark chocolate, and star anise. The full-bodied palate delivers intense, impactful, red and black berry flavors, with a lively backbone and plush tannins, finishing long and perfumed. This is a very pretty wine!"
