2020 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon

The "sweet spot" of the Oak Knoll District has again delivered us a supple and elegant expression of this 100% single clone, single varietal Cabernet Sauvignon. It greets the eyes with a gorgeous ruby in the glass.
It begins with fresh aromatics of freshly picked red and black berries as well as fresh flowers and rosemary blossom. Deeper notes arise of mocha, crushed chocolate cookie, bay leaf, rosemary bark and wet river stones.
It greets the palate with delightful tension between bright acidity and grippy, but fine tannin. Darker flavors lead with cocoa dust, black walnut, savory herbs and cassis. Brighter notes emerge on the midpalate through the finish, showing red currant, cranberry sauce with hints of cinnamon and sour cherry candy with modest, underlying toasty oak.
Aged 19 months in 64% new French oak. It offers ready drinkability as well as a history of aging potential.
